Despite the factual truth about the impossibility for one to come up with a constant formula for sailing through life situational trials, a deep consideration of what I would call the “WHAT IF” question, may give one enough knowledge and insight on how they can always act with wisdom.

As typical of my presentations on the subject of the breadth of mind in the previous series , i have to use a story as my case study.

Genesis 25:29-34
29 Once when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in from the field, and he was exhausted.
30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am exhausted!”
31 Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright now.”
32 Esau said, “I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?”
33 Jacob said, “Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob.
34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Well the biblical story highlighted by the scriptures above is beyond any shadow of doubt one of the the most common and greatly known in the christian and even secular circles, yet there’s a very enlightening discovery to embrace after following this series of writing.

Esau who was regarded as the an elder brother to Jacob his womb-mate due to have had been born first during their mother’s delivery, lost his birthright to his young brother in a hostile situation that he would’ve managed to deal with wisely if only his breath of mind had allowed him to consider the “WHAT IF” question…..

Before he became a victim of desperation in being forced to comply with Jacob’s conditions for giving him the stew he had prepared at the expense of his birthright, this simple question could’ve given him the strength to ignore his starvation and helped him understand the foolishness of entering into that deal…..”WHAT IF he had returned home to find nothing to eat prepared???, wasn’t he just going to prepare it for himself???
Yes i know and understand the luring and tempting sweet savour injected into the atmosphere whenever a stew has been cooked but in the consideration of the value of what he was going to lose in the quest for pacifying his hunger, that “WHAT IF” question was still going to open up his eyes to see the best way out of this tragic circumstance.

Hope i have stressed out the significance of the “WHAT IF” question in one’s process of coming up with a lasting solution to whatever problems they might be facing at hand.

STAY WISE!!!
