STORIES OF CHRISTIANS BEING SEEN IN HELL FIRE FOR NOT PAYING THEIR TITHES…SUCH STORIES AND VISIONS ARE ONLY MEANT TO INSTILL FEAR ON PEOPLE IN ORDER TO GET MORE MONEY FROM THEM.
The subject of tithing has become a very controversial topic in the last few years. There have been thousands of stories and visions of Christians being seen in HELL FIRE for not paying their tithes.
In the book titled “The Horrors of Hell and the Glories of Heaven” (The Testimonies of the 7 Columbian Youths) published by the Kingdom Fortress Ministry, 7 Youths were taken to Hell Fire by Jesus Christ where they saw thousands and thousands of people in HELL FIRE, and each of them had a metal plate on their chests that reads “I am here for not giving tithes and offerings”.
Recently, I heard a Pastor of a prominent church here in Nigeria state quite emphatically that according to Malachi 3:8-9, if one is not tithing; one is living under a CURSE. Another pastor said on the other hand that according to Matthew 6:3-4, churches that keep their member’s Tithe records will all go to HELL FIRE.
Almost all the churches have different views and different formulae for tithing, and some have even gone as far as to suppose that “tithing” is the only way to determine a person’s spirituality, and have made it a requirement for SALVATION.
If you don’t pay 10 percent of your income, you will be counted as a candidate for HELL FIRE, and will NOT be considered as a true member of the church. So very important is this considered that in case of death, no member of the church will attend the funeral in which the defaulter is directly involved!
Moreover, in some churches, the monthly income of all the members are being calculated, recorded and marked on their TITHE CARDS each month, just to make sure that all their tithe obligations are fulfilled in full. In many churches, tithes are usually deducted from their worker’s salaries before they are paid. This is to help the member to fulfill his or her tithe obligation.
Brethren, there is no “CURSE” for “not tithing” in the New Testament (as is often implied in the sermons from Malachi 3:8-9). We should not go back to Abraham (where tithing was as a token of his gratitude to God) or the Mosaic Law (where tithing was by compulsion), but we should focus on Christ (where offering is characterized by “Faith-Giving” (2 Corinthians 9:7) “Give and it shall be given unto you…” (Luke 6:38), “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
You pastors, if you truly fear and love God, tell them the truth and NOT stories. Stop quoting Malachi 3:8-10, for God is not mocked. What you sow is what you shall reap (Galatians 6:7).
Remember what the Scripture says in Jeremiah 48:10, “Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully” and what it says in Isaiah 48:1, “…which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but NOT in TRUTH, nor in RIGHTEOUSNESS”.
In Luke 6:46, Christ says; “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord and do not the things which I say?” Where in the entire New Testament, have you ever read that Christ commanded His disciples to take tithe from their converts?
And again in John 12:26, He says, “If any man serves me, let him follow me…” Concerning tithe, who are you following? Christ or your Pastor? Time has come when we “MUST” worship God in spirit and in “TRUTH” (John 4:23-24).
