COMMON SENSE OF THE HEART AND MIND – There is a rumour that common sense isn’t common, believe me, I usually believe rumours. But it’s a general consensus that we all have varying degrees of sense, although the ‘Dunning Kruger’ effect will have people believe they are smarter than they actually are. But then, any trace of sense in a human no matter how small is enough to grant him the liberty of simple emotional perception.
I am no psychologist but I have the right to assume that the simplest forms of perception are that of affection, love or resentment and animosity. Even dogs can tell which of the numerious masters in the house that loves it. It knows the one that gives her a treat of bones, takes her for a walk and plays catch anytime they are bored. That dog also knows the one who rarely notices it’s presence save for the time he wants to spank it for peeing on the couch. Of course, the dog might be wrong; the spanking master might even love the dog more than the affectionate one. But feelings matter nothing to animals, actions speak louder than megaphones to them. Don’t just feel love, show love. So if you are not showing it, we are not feeling it. That is probably the A-Z of animal affection.
Having said that, I feel this is a pretty little time to remind you that man is an animal, we use the ‘higher animal’ as a masseuse to give our pompous egos a treat. But every once in a while, the animal tendencies in us rise superior to petty civilization influences.
If honesty is still a real thing then you will admit that the Nigerian military isn’t really our favourite people right now. Their popularity now, especially in the South East must be at an all-time low and some extremists might inwardly be considering them as real-time enemies of that region. Whether guided or misguided is probably a different debate but we can all agree that little or nothing has been done to efface from their minds the grim and grey impressions stamped on their minds over the last couple of months. Especially after the slimy Pythons of the same Military chose Umahia as the stage for their sinister One Corner Dance. How else do you expect a group of sensitive individuals to react to a rumour of an evil Charity from a military which has become a reliable source of savagery to them? Panic!
COMMON SENSE OF THE HEART AND MIND – For whatever it is worth, I do not share the sentiments of those who believe the Military have any evil design of injecting anyone with a virus. But it is suspicious if they actually engaged in any medical reach out no matter how noble their intentions are. Very insensitive of them if they were actually reaching out in the East where this obviously eluding common sense should have told them it will be misconstrued.
In the Trojan War, after a futile 10-year siege without being able to break into the city. The Greeks built a gigantic wooden horse, hiding an elite military force inside it. The Greeks pretended to abandon a soldier who presented it as a gift to the Trojans while informing them that the Greeks had giving up and sailed away. The Trojans pulled the horse into their city as a victory trophy. That night the Greek force crept out of the horse and opened the gates for the rest of the Greek army, which had sailed back under cover of night. The Greeks entered and destroyed the city of Troy, ending the war. That was it, the Greek gift which the Trojans failed to recognize.
I repeat, it is utterly puerile in every conceivable way to imagine any connection between Nigerian military and any impending population reduction vaccine. But history teaches you to apply precaution before wisdom whenever an enemy offers you a gift.
I have not stumbled on any official information on the details of the medical outreach save some Facebook pictures showing a similar outreach in Enugu. Some State medical association have denied any knowledge of such programme while the Military’s silence rather than clarify their position might even suggest to some that it might be a clandestine activity.
The Nigerian army should come forward and clarify their position. Explain why they decided to take on medical projects when the Fight against Boko Haram could really use more hands. If they know nothing about it, it is important the deny it categorically.
COMMON SENSE OF THE HEART AND MIND – Finally, Facebook has been noisy with largely young people with no kids laying claim to an amusing form of wisdom. Berating those who prevented their kids from proceeding to school on the event of this childish rumour. I tell you this, the love a parent has for a child is enough to obliterate any form of wisdom.Yes, the news is clearly a devious method by someone or some people who don’t like Nigeria. But blaming a parent for acting circumspectly in a matter that concerns his/her ward’s safety is hardly wisdom on your side. Parents with young children will spare no pain, expense or foolish act to be on the safe side.
When you have your own child, you can be as brave as you want. But I assure you, in one way or the other, love will surely force you to momentarily forfeit your wisdom.
I am EI, If I don’t tell you the truth, who will?
