The Idolatry of Papas Part 2

The chain in the legs of many believers today is not the chain 🔗 fashioned from witchcraft coven but the chain of their papas..

The greatest bondage many Christians are subjected to, is not the much-touted ancestral curse but the systematized bondage to their so-called spiritual fathers.

The major fear that rules the hearts of the present-day church-goer  is not the fear of God but the fear of their papas.

The thickest veil 👰 covering the eyes of many professed believers of nowadays is the veil of their papas.

Until the veil is taken away, many cannot see far. Many cannot enter into the inheritance that is already provided for them in Christ Jesus.

The greatest limitation to their coming to the knowlege of the truth is their papa. Many are solidly trapped in the enclaves of their papas. They see through the lens of their papas. Every information coming to them have to be subjected to their denominational constructs and their papas prisms. They will choose their papas over the Holy Spirit.

Their truth is defined by their papas. When their papas say something is the truth, then it is the truth. The day their papas turn around to say otherwise about it is the day they too would make a U-turn.

Their papa is the source that they know. He’s the go-between that they know. He’s the Jesus that they see. He’s the covering and protection that they know. He’s the only source of inspiration that they know.

Friends, the present-day church landscape is dotted with an excited generation of people who rise to defend their papas against the truth of God’s word and eternal verities found in Christ Jesus. Pit their papas against Jesus on an issue and their papa will win over Jesus, any day. As far as they are concerned, defending their papa is the same as contending for the faith.. They have gone beyond the place of honor to the place of worship of papas.. They have been exposed to teachings that strike fear into them but it is not the fear of God but the fear of papas. This fear follows them everywhere they go… It has become a snare to them but they do not know it. The fear of man is a snare.. (Proverbs 29:25). Even in the face of flagrant abuses of many kinds coming to them from their papas, they still remain loyal. They have been taught about layalty to papas and not loyalty to God.

Furthermore, consumed with so much adoration for their papas, they do not know that their greatest limitation to coming to the knowledge of Christ that they have been called to is their much-cherished papa.

Many papas are like the religion leaders of the Bible days that Jesus berated for preventing God-seekers from coming into the kingdom. Read Him:

“ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Matthew 23:13 NKJV

“Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”

Luke 11:52 NKJV

If only people knew that their much cherished papas could be the greatest hindrance to their coming to the knowlege of the truth, their deliverance would have been nearer than they know.

Friends, when Jesus gave gifts to the church, the gift of “papa” was not in the number. He gave us teachers, apostles, prophets and a host of other gifts but He did not give the gift or the place of papa to anyone in the church. “Papa”, a fond way of calling “Father” is a name that is reserved for God as far as spiritual authority is concerned. The word “father” means “source” and you and I have only one source and that source is your Father who is in heaven. A papa is the final, inerrant and infallible authority on truth and every other doctrinal issue and only God fits that description.

Jesus warned his disciples against the doctrine of papacy, when he asked them not to call anyone father on earth. I believe he wasn’t referring to relationships bordering on biological fathers or elders who are generally old enough to be addressed thus, as it were. He was making reference to the religion leaders of the day that had presented themselves as the source and final authority on spiritual matters to the people.

Same is applicable today. Many papas have hijacked the flock. They have taken ownership and they do all they can to sell themselves as final authority to the people instead of pointing them to their true father.

The trap of papacy is real and the implications are bitting hard in our days more than many truly realize. From “pulpits to the pews”, many well-meaning God seekers have been trapped in this web. May they find deliverance for their soul sooner than later in Jesus name.

The Lord Jesus wants His church back from the hold of papas. The church He redeemed from perdition by offering Himself cannot end up in the hands of men as owners.

I believe whenever God appoints leaders in the church, he always wants them to be good shepherds and not turn themselves to owners of the church. He wants them to feed the church with the appropriate diet and the diet of the church is Christ Jesus and not the diet of papas. The church belongs to Christ. Hence, anyone who keeps pointing people to himself as against pointing people to Christ is an impostor and a hijacker, no matter what subtle method he employs.

Paul’s parting words to the elders of the church at Ephesus is instructive :

“So guard your hearts. Be true shepherds over all the flock and feed them well. Remember, it was the Holy Spirit who appointed you to guard and oversee the churches that belong to Jesus, the Anointed One, which he purchased and established by his own blood.

Acts 20:28 TPT

May God deliver his church from the traps of “papas”

It is a new day!
