AN INQUIRY ABOUT THE LAW OF ATTRACTION AND THE GOSPEL

AN INQUIRY ABOUT THE LAW OF ATTRACTION AND THE GOSPEL

Inquirer: But sir, I am in utter shock as to some of the deep issues you highlighted linking the origin of the New thought movement with the Word of Faith theology. Because the very foundation of churches in Nigeria, especially Pentecostals, are rooted in the practices of the Law of Attraction if I will be sincere here.

My concern however is, is the law of attraction poisonous ultimately the soul of man, or it is just that it is different from the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and thus the distinction should be clear to the believer?

Me: Your candid observation is correct. A substantial part of what we call faith in Pentecostalism today, not only in Nigeria, is the Law of Attraction.

You have asked two questions. I will start with the second question.

Is the Law of Attraction different from the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ?

The answer to this question is Yes. The Law of Attraction is a metaphysical ideology that has its origin in different pagan religions and occultism. It is centered around self. Self is its god. It is primarily about releasing the “energy” of the human mind (the subconscious mind) through repetitive confession to accomplish things for man. Whereas the Gospel is about what Jesus accomplished for man through His death and resurrection.

The first question is more difficult to answer but the Bible would guide us.

Is the Law of Attraction ultimately poisonous to the human soul?

What we currently have as the Gospel in the Pentecostal circle is a mixture of the Gospel of Christ, the Law of Attraction, Judaism and the American dream of socioeconomic upward mobility. It is syncretism. In that case, we can say the mixture is a poison to the human soul because the Bible explicitly warns against mixing the Gospel with any other form of religion or human philosophy. The Gospel of Christ alone is sufficient for the salvation of man. No addition is needed.

Hear what the Apostle Paul said concerning this:

“7 Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoils you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwells all the fullness of the Deity bodily.” (Col 2:7-9)

” 8  But then, when you knew not God, you did service unto them which by nature are no gods. 9 But now, after you have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn you again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? 10 You observe days, and months, and times, and years. 11 I am afraid for you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain.” (Gal 4:9-11)

In order to underscore the seriousness of this matter, the Apostle Paul went further to call the mixture of the Gospel with another religion or human philosophy “ANOTHER GOSPEL” and places a curse (anathema) on whosoever propagates such, including both man and angel.

“6 I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preaches any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed.” (Gal 1:6-9)

Why did Paul do this? It is because whoever adds to the Gospel is directly or indirectly saying what Jesus accomplished for man through his death and resurrection is not enough. Something else must be added to it like the Judaisers and heretics of old claimed.

Some people may have done this in the past out of ignorance. The truth, however, is that God is not pleased with the development. God is a jealous God. He won’t tolerate forever whatever diminishes the accomplishment of His Son Jesus. This, to my mind, is why all these errors are now being exposed by the least of the brethren.

The Gospel of Christ is simple and we must do all we can to maintain its purity and simplicity. Many a time, the love for the spectacular and special revelations is what leads people to add these occultic and pagan philosophies to the Gospel.

” 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his cunning, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.” (2Cor 11:2-4)

Let those who have ears listen to what the Spirit is saying.

Shalom!

CHURCH COMEDY IS NOT SOUL WINNING, IT IS SEDUCTION OF THE CHURCH WITH WORLDLY ACTIVITIES!

STOP HELPING THE DEVIL TO DO HIS WORK – CHURCH MINISTERS

By: Abigayle Mutua

“STOP helping the devil do his work. He is the accuser of brethren, why help him accuse your fellow brethren.”

The problem we have as servants of God is attacking our fellow servants based on where we are and what we feel and not based on the word.

That I don’t do deliverance I attack deliverance Ministers. That I don’t have cash I attack the prospered Ministers. That I don’t have a well attended church I attack the mega church pastors. That I can’t afford a car I attack the pastors with private jets. That my members don’t call me daddy because of my behavior, I attack those pastors that their members call them daddy. That I don’t have a bodyguard i attack them that has. And the list continues. Ministers, Let us watch out for each other.

There are people who will never let you experience the joy of salvation nor the joy of ministry. They are like the woman in the court of Solomon who slept and killed her baby, then turned on the neighbors baby. It’s not that she wanted the neighbors baby, she just wanted her neighbor child dead because her own was dead!

You try to praise God, they say you are too spiritual . You try to have a small church, they say you don’t have grace. Try to grow a mega church, they say you’re too ambitious. You walk out on ministry, they say you were pretending to love God. You stay in ministry, they say you think you know a lot! Whatever you do, there will always be naysayers and direct oppositions. Ministers let us learn to keep your focus and do what we are called to do.

Maranatha!
